Well, I certainly bit the bullet with this one. I finally officially own the web domain www.verminrealm.com So far it's just a blog, but I have big plans for it. Bloody hell, it's difficult though, html and such. Still, one of the good things about having this list is that it's pushing me into doing the things I've wanted to do for a long time.
Basically, The Vermin Realm is a place of my own creation, seeing as I love rats and mice, and it's a magical place featured in the childrens book I'm writing. Don't worry, it's not a seriously book - it's very silly. The only thing is that no doubt in the future I will want to change it so that it isn't a blog in any way, but is in fact a tie-in to the book, in which case all the current stuff will probably either be abandoned or transferred to another site I will register under my more common username. But for now - yay!!!
I digress.
I don't know why this is a goal of mine, but what does that matter? We all need idols, we need to feel we have something to attain, someone to guide us even if in the loosest possible sense. Thus the cult of celebrity spirals out of control.
One of my hobbies is autograph collecting. I belong to a fantastic autograph collecting community - anyone interested and I'll pos the link - has thousands of addresses. In the past few months I've had some cool successes - a christmas card from John Hurt last week, and so forth. It would be nice to count a celebrity as a friend, and I don't care how people use that fact to interpret me
So, out of my autograph successes I received two responses that stood out - a letter from Burt K**** and a phone call from John M******. Today I sent them both christmas cards - we shall see...
Well wouldn't you know, I've scarce finished writing the list (well, to be more blunt, I haven't finished writing my list - 100 goals is a lot and I just know I'm missing out a fair few important ones, so I may leave the actually completion of the list in full for a few more days) when low and behold I stumble and complete one completely by accident!
I'll explain in full. Back in the days of yore, when I was an a-level student and Athena postcards were the 'It' decorations I had a picture of a lion cub biting the bum of an adult Lion, making it roar in pain. It's one of those classic images but I grew and I forgot and when I tried to describe it to my fiance a few years ago I thought - why not look on the web? And I searched. And searched. And then some - nothing. No matter how vague, precise, staggeringly inventive my methods were, the picture alluded me to the point I wanted to beat somebody roughly about the head because of it!
Today I was at the library, reading the kiddies books (they're brill!) when I knocked a book off it's shelf. 'Hm, Big Cats,' thinks I, casually examining the aforementioned book which promptly fell open at...you guessed it...
I had been looking for this picture for at least 2 years. Less than 1 day after I make it a goal, I find it. I like to think of it as an omen of sorts. So, without further delay...
